Welcome to Lung Foundation Australia

October 2022

The Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (ACDPA) is excited to welcome Lung Foundation Australia as a new member of the Alliance.

Lung disease is the second leading cause of death in Australia. Many people with lung conditions live with multiple chronic diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and asthma.

CEO of Lung Foundation Australia Mark Brooke said, “Lung Foundation Australia is proud to be joining the Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance. With lung disease impacting 1 in 7 Australians, the Alliance is an ideal partner to progress our mutual goals.”

ACDPA Chair and CEO of Kidney Health Australia Chris Forbes welcomed the Alliance’s newest member, saying, “Lung Foundation Australia expands the depth and breadth of ACDPA and strengthens our work to represent people suffering from debilitating chronic conditions, as well as people at risk of developing disease.”

“Together with Lung Foundation Australia, ACDPA represents the majority of the 11 million Australians living with chronic disease, as well as millions of Australians living with high risk or undiagnosed disease,” said Mr Forbes.

Mr Brooke added, “With lung health impacted and linked to air quality and climate change, tobacco addiction, the type of workplace you attend and your genetics, prevention of chronic illness across the life course has never been more important.”

ACDPA brings together Cancer Council Australia, Heart Foundation, Diabetes Australia, Stroke Foundation, Kidney Health Australia, and Lung Foundation Australia to advocate for the long-term health and wellbeing of Australians by providing a powerful voice for those living with, or at risk of, chronic disease.
